An Afternoon of Art and Food in Chinatown/DTES

Map Is Not The Territory-window

We're into the second week of Common and The Map Is Not The Territory and we've been very pleased with the response to both exhibitions. If you haven't had a chance to check them out, the clock is starting to tick. On top of weekday hours, there are only two more weekend days (Saturdays) to catch them so I recommend heading down and making an afternoon of it.

After you've hit The Gam and The Remington I suggest making your way around the corner to Untitled Art Space which just opened up last week with it's first show simply called "The Untitled Show." The show features work from a selection of over 40 Vancouver artists so stop by, check out the work and say hi.

While you are in the neighbourhood you'd be wise to take advantage of at least one of the great local food options. If you're in the mood for Bao–hit up New Town Bakery for their famous bun action. BBQ Pork on the savoury side, coconut on the sweet side–in my experience you can't go wrong with New Town.

If you're up for something more substantial, it may well be Ramen time and while this isn't technically the Ramen District, The Ramen Butcher on Georgia will hook you up with the broth, the noodles and, if you're lucky, a good selection of 90's hiphop on the side.

If you've got an appetite for tastes other than Asian there are many options close at hand. Tacofino has you covered for Mexican inspired goods and Bestie will be happy to assist you with scratching that itch for German cuisine you may find yourself with. You'll find a number of other options on the map I've included below.

Gallery Hours:
The Remington: Tuesday – Saturday 12pm - 4pm
The Gam Gallery: Thursday – Saturday 1PM - 5PM
