Superimpose

Really love this short doc which centres on the making of the most recent record by The Range (Aka James Hinton.) While "Potential" and Hinton are the underlying thread, "Superimpose" expands out to explore the lives of some of the artists he sampled from their under-viewed Youtube videos. The film ends up being a love letter to music and a deep nod to the struggle often required to make any kind of life in the arts.

An 8 Hour Place to Rest

I've been a sleep experimentation enthusiast since way back. I've also been a big fan of Max Richter's work since falling head over heels for his early works, particularly Songs from Before which I went bonkers for upon it's release. These two factors make Sleep a gentle collision in the very centre of my wheelhouse. Tristesse and I tuned in for Richter's world premiere of the entire work the other night and, as intended, slept through most of it. Most chill premiere of anything on record? What I heard was lovely and I look forward to hearing the rest, either consciously or unconsciously for many sleeps to come.

A one-hour collection of excerpts from the piece is available on all the usual streaming services –The full work can be purchased from iTunes and is certainly well worth the investment, day or night.

Cheer Up My Brother

Jams like this don't come around everyday. Smooth, brilliant, classic!
Johan Cederberg aka HNNY pulls these beautiful lyrics from the classic "Farther Along" penned back in 1911. Listen to Mississippi John Hurt's rendition of the track recorded in the 60's.
